Monmouth Mayor's Report
January 4, 2000
I have a relatively short Mayor’s Report for tonight:
- The City is working with other local, county, and regional organizations to help Boise Cascade choose rebuilding, here — in Monmouth, over other options.
- Eleven of twelve Monmouth Visioning Process "Neighborhood Outreach" meetings have been completed — the last one is scheduled for February 21, 2000. It will be exactly a year after the first, and hopefully — a fitting end to an incredible process.
The individual meeting summaries as well as an overview summary of the process and the findings will be given to the Planning Commission in March.
My next Mayor’s Report will include excerpts from that summary.
- This week, Mayor McArdle and I were invited to present a State of the City address, at the next Chamber Forum (February 9th, 11:30). We will each deliver remarks about our respective communities — but the event is a celebration of the unique relationship our twin cities enjoy.
- I want to publicly recognize Amy Snell and Adam Welander for an outstanding job during the recent YMCA Youth Government Pre-Legislative Assembly; Speaker Snell and Gubernatorial Candidate Welander did our community proud!
- Finally, as annotated on the agenda — I have nominated, for Council’s approval or rejection, supplementary appointments:
Per the 1999 council request, I have submitted a list of qualified candidates with my selection, highlighted in bold. All are good people with an interest to serve however, I believe that the highlighted folks would help provide the best blend — at least for right now.
