Statesman Journal
November 3, 2006

Oregon Senate candidate Paul Evans will get one more sendoff rally before he heads for active duty with the Oregon Air National Guard unit.

Gov. Ted Kulongoski and U.S. Rep. Darlene Hooley will be among those saluting Evans' departure at 6 p.m. Saturday at Kulongoski's campaign headquarters, 128 NE Seventh St., Portland. Evans had a similar sendoff rally last week in Salem.

Evans, a former mayor of Monmouth, is the Democratic nominee in Senate District 10, which covers South and West Salem, Aumsville and Turner, Monmouth and Independence.

He will be deployed to Afghanistan with the 116th Air Control Squadron for a 60-day mission.

If elected, he expects to return in time for the 2007 Legislative session.
