Paul Evans stood out at candidate forum
Statesman Journal
September 26, 2006

I attended the candidate forum sponsored by the Vanderhaves at Green Villa Barn. One candidate stood out: Paul Evans, candidate for state Senate District 10.

Candidates of the highest character and vision don't come along every day; thank goodness they're still easy to recognize. Paul was mayor of Monmouth in his 20s and has served twice in Iraq. We have the opportunity to bring him into a state government that's overdue for change.

The 2005 Legislature was appalling in its partisanship, resulting in the most ineffective legislative session in years. Candidates like Mr. Evans, who speaks knowledgeably about every subject put before him, are what is needed now to give a fresh look at problems whose solutions are unfortunately very challenging.

Not only is he informed about the current state of affairs; he's already been collaborating with current and future leaders on fresh, bipartisan approaches to the significant challenges facing Oregonians in the coming years.

If you haven't met this outstanding candidate, check out his Web site and make an effort to hear and meet him.
