MONMOUTH -- Monmouth Paul Evans is moving his "Coffee and Community" meetings up an hour.
Every Wednesday morning, Evans goes to Rick's Place on Main Street to talk with anyone who stops by. The meetings are being moved up from 7 to 8 a.m.
Evans teaches Oregon State University and Western Oregon University. The new time is necessary because of his spring term schedule.
Evans said he realizes the new time may not be convenient for everyone, so he'll leave a notebook at the coffeehouse where early birds can leave their comments.
The meetings have been successful, Evans said. Sometimes only one or two people come. Sometimes there have been up to 15.
"It's very free flowing," Evans said. "I find it really helpful. It's basically a campaign promise I made in 1998 so people can keep in touch with me. It think it works."
